Sign up for any day between 16-20 October for a day of fun! All participants will receive a free shirt, and an exclusive invitation to a thank-you dinner at the end of the event (vv good food guys). The Entre-Builder Fund Raising Challenge Organised by SME (Society of Mechanical Engineering) and Great Eastern Life FAQs 1. What is this event? It is a charity drive project organised by Great Eastern Life. It is a fundraising competition between various groups and organisations to raise money for the beneficiaries. All proceeds from the fund-raising initiative will go to the beneficiaries. 2. Who are the beneficiaries? AWWA Community Home for Senior Citizens (AWWA), supporting the elderly, and MINDS Fernvale Gardens School for children with special needs. 3. What does the event entail and what is the time commitment required by the volunteers? The actual event lasts 5 days, but participants can pick any one day to engage in fund-raising activities (akin to Flagging). All fund-raising activities will be conducted on campus. Prior to the event, participants are required to attend a short briefing on 3rd October. 4. When is the appreciation dinner? The participants will be invited to a dinner after the conclusion of the entire fundraising event on 7th November. Beneficiaries will be presented their cheques and the participants will be thanked for their efforts. Attendance is not compulsory, bu the food will be good! 5. What can I look forwards to as a participant? All participants will receive a free shirt, as well as an invitation to the appreciation dinner. In addition, participants get to earn CIP hours for the time spent fundraising. You might also have a multitude of tests, presentations and submissions coming up. We at SME understand your plight and and think you need a break. Which is why we we will be having the welfare pack giveaway next week. What's more, this semester we'll be having our 1st ever SME carnival along with the welfare pack giveaway. You can look forward to carnival games, an ice cream giveaway, lucky draw and a photo booth. There will also be shops selling clothes, bags and accessories. So, mark the date on your calendar and do come down to have a fun day with us. Date and Day: 28th March 2016, Monday Time: 12 noon - 5 p.m. Venue: Area outside LT6 Games We have been able to get some very interesting carnival games for you and sure you will have a great time playing the games. The games are designed to test various abilities like shooting, throwing, steering and your dexterity. Prizes will be given when you collect enough stamps after winning the games. To register to play the games, simply come on down to our Carnival and we will issue you a stamp card. Welfare Pack & Ice cream Giveaway This semester we will not only be giving you a welfare pack filled with goodies but also some ice-cream to go along with it. All you have to do to claim your pack and Ice cream is to: 1. Present your matric card 2. Show on your mobile device that you've liked our NUS SME Facebook page 3. Complete a short survey for our main sponsor NUS-JTC i^3 Centre Do come early to avoid disappointment though as we have a limited number of packs. Lucky Draw Registering for the games will also allow you to enter our lucky draw and you will stand to win various attractive prizes. The lucky draw will be conducted every 10 minutes starting from 2 p.m till 5 p.m. so you will not have to stay for the whole event but can come down when you are free to join in the fun. Bazaar We will have stalls selling the latest accessories and trendy apparel for you to check out as well. So do walk about and you might just find something you like. We will also be selling our ME t-shirts on the day, so do come down to get them, while stocks last. On 5th October SME had another informative SEP talk for its ME students to help them with their Student Exchange Applications. Asst. Professor Quan Chenggen shared his valuable tips and knowledge as the past SEP coordinator for Mechanical Engineering Department along with Seniors from ME who have previously gone for exchange successfully. NUS SME is organizing a Mechanical Engineering school tour for Junior College students. This will not be an ordinary course talk, but an actual tour of our labs and work spaces. The tour will be conducted by our fellow Mechanical Engineering students together with an NUS Prof so as to maximize experiencing the life in NUS ME!
